Commission Member Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

  • Represent the Commission by advocating for its vision, mission and goals.
  • Carry out actions to achieve the Commissions goals.
  • Be informed about community conditions, strengths and changes.
  • Build partnerships with citizens and organizations to encourage community collaborations.
  • Allocate and monitor efficient use of resources.
  • Model the commissions guiding principles.
  • Advocate for children and families.

Individual Responsibilities

  • Regularly attend Commission meetings.
  • Participate on one working committee.
  • Participate and attend CCF community forums and training.
  • Advocate and work for children and families.
  • Monitor a minimum of one CCF-funded project.

Purpose, Authority and Duties

  • Carry out the duties as contained in Oregon legislation creating local commissions SB 555 (1999).
  • Advise the Board of Commissioners on activities and programs relating to children and families.
  • Advise public and private entities; provide a network of information and contacts for children and family services, monitor services and systems.
  • Represent Linn County in coordinating systems serving children and families at the regional, state and federal levels.
  • Promote wellness for children and families.
  • Develop policy pertaining to children and family service systems.
  • Promote and mobilize planning and local decision-making.
  • Prepare a comprehensive service delivery plan to achieve state and county outcomes.
  • Recommend which, if any, state administered services and funding should be transferred to the Commission and county.
  • Monitor progress on key outcomes and all projects and evaluate the service delivery system for children and families.
