Emergency Preparedness
Overview
Public Health is working with other county departments, including the Sheriff to develop response plans to a number of situations (natural and man-made) that would impact a significant portion of our population. Public Health is also working with members of other counties and the state to make sure that our response to a particular event is coordinated with their responses.
How to Prepare Yourself and Your Family
While public health along with many other local agencies are developing plans for health related emergencies, it is in everyone's best interest that you along with all community members be prepared for any emergency. Having a minimum of a 72 hour emergency kit is recommended. Families also need to have a plan in place to manage emergency situations. For more information go to:

Response to public health emergencies
Public Health plays a critical part in responding to local events that involve health issues. Early detection is crucial. Responding to large-scale health events will require quick and efficient health preparedness by the local, state and federal levels. Preparedness and prevention requires numerous partners and planning.
The U.S. Public Health system and primary healthcare providers must be prepared to address various health issues that may occur during natural or man made disasters or during disease outbreaks.
