Our goal is to provide quality countywide public health services. Public health is prevention for a better life, promotion for your health, and protection for you, your family, and your community.

Births and Deaths in Linn County

Linn County Vital Statistics registers all births and deaths that occur in Linn County.

Linn County Vital Statistics is able to issue certified copies of birth and death certificates which occurred in Linn County for up to six months after the event.

The cost is $20.00 for the 1st copy and $15.00 for each additional copy ordered at the same time. Identification is required.

Eligibility to Order

Within six months of event in Linn County

Birth records can be purchased by immediate family members - parents listed on the birth certificate, grandparents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, legal representatives, or government agencies.

Death records can be purchased by family members, legal representatives, government agencies, or to persons or agencies with a personal or property right.

If you are not a relative, you must explain your reason for needing the birth or death record.
