Wellness Committee

The Linn County Health Services Wellness Committee is comprised of representatives from the Alcohol and Drug, Mental Health, Commission on Children and Families and Public Health departments in Health Services who wish to promote a culture of wellness throughout the workplace and community.

The Mission of the Wellness Committee is to provide opportunities for employees to develop healthier lifestyles through supporting the adoption of positive habits and attitudes that contribute to their physical and behavioral well-being, thereby promoting a productive, compassionate and active workforce.

Chronic Disease Resources

Living Well With Chronic Conditions: This six-session workshop helps those with chronic conditions learn how to take control of their health. Participants build skills and confidence for managing their health, staying active and enjoying life. This class is for adults who have diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, COPD or any other chronic condition.

Better Breather Clubs: This lung support group is open to those with chronic respiratory ailments as well as their families, friends or caregivers. Please contact Samaritan Health Services for more information regarding club topics, locations and times.

Community Resources in Linn County

Albany Community Garden: The city of Albany has a Community Garden that provides an opportunity for the public to plant and grow produce. The garden is all-organic and features a communal herb garden and a children's garden. Farmers' Market Information: Seasonal farmers' markets operate in various locations throughout Linn County selling fresh, local produce. Many farmers' markets now accept Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP) funds through the That's My Farmer SNAP Incentive Program. For more information please visit or

Health Services in Linn County

Wellness Programs: Wellness programs and classes are available to the public ranging from weight loss support to help with quitting tobacco use. These programs are offered by Samaritan Health Services.

Medical Care: Low cost medical and dental services are available for those without medical insurance. The clinics operate in Albany and Lebanon and are provided by Community Outreach Inc. and Samaritan Health Services.

Boys and Girls Club: The Boys and Girls Club in Albany features a dental clinic for uninsured children ages 6-18. The clinic provides dental services and oral hygiene education. For more information please visit the Albany Boys and Girls Club.
