Maternal Child Health Programs

Babies First

Babies First is a program for families with young children, birth to 4 years with health needs.

A Public Health Nurse with special training will help families learn to care for their child with health needs. Your nurse can put you in touch with others who can help your family and your child.

What happens on a home visit with your nurse?

  • Weigh, measure, and plot your infants growth progress
  • Inform you when immunizations are due
  • Vision and hearing screening
  • Developmental screening (a fun toy adventure)
  • Visual dental screening with information about when my baby should see a dentist?
  • Advocate and support parents
  • Discuss nutrition, and feeding progress
  • WIC recertification
