Since 1993 the percentage of infants born to mothers in Oregon who used tobacco while pregnant has decreased 37 percent.

The smoking rates for pregnant women in Linn County are much higher as compared to the state. (20% in Linn County vs. 12 % in the State of Oregon).

Smoking while pregnant has been associated with birth and delivery problems, low birth weight, abnormal blood pressure, SIDS, and respiratory disorders. For further information go to LUNG USA.
