Online Tax Payments

How can I make a Property Tax payment on-line?

We are often asked if people can pay property taxes on-line. For those who desire to make such a payment for Linn County property taxes, there is an option explained below the disclaimer.

Point & Pay is a private commercial enterprise that wants your business. Use of Point & Pay is voluntary. There is no fee for payments made directly to the Linn County Tax Collector by check or cash. Such payments may be made in our office or by regular mail.

Notice: Point & Pay charges a fee for using their services.

Visa Debit is $3.95 per transaction (must choose Visa Debit for Tax payment method)
All other Credit and Debit cards are 2.5% of the transaction amount ($2.00 minimum)
-or-
$1.50 is charged on e-check payments

Online Payment

Steps to make a credit card, debit card or e-check payment through the internet:

  1. Go to Account Detail
  2. Click Public Account Detail Search
  3. Search for the account
  4. Click on the hyperlink of the Account Number
  5. Select the Taxes tab
  6. If you wish to pay then select the "Click Here to Pay Taxes" link above the owners name. This will take you to the secure Point & Pay website for Linn County. Follow their directions regarding payment.

Payment Schedule

To avoid interest charges and receive any applicable discount choose one of the following payment schedules:

Full Payment -- Receive a three percent (3%) discount on the current year, if paid in full by November 15th. We accept postmark.

2/3 Payment -- Receive a two percent (2%) discount on the current year, if the first 2/3 payments are made by Nov 15th. Pay the final 1/3 balance by May 15th.

1/3 Payment -- No discount allowed. Pay one-third by November 15th. Pay a second 1/3rd payment by February 15th. Pay the final 1/3rd balance by May 15th.

Reminder notices are NOT sent for February or May payments.

Interest is charged on any past due installment for the schedule you choose. Statute determines the interest rate.
