Linn County Treasurer and Budget Officer Michelle Hawkins acts as the county’s banker and investment officer.

Her office’s main responsibility is to safeguard public funds, including careful daily monitoring of its investments. She is also responsible for putting together the annual county budget.

Hawkins and her staff, Deputy Treasurer Breeanna Oxford and Treasury and Budget Assistant Michelle Valenzuela, are responsible for documenting more than $350 million in income and disbursements annually.

The Treasurer’s Office is responsible for receipting all property taxes — more than $180 million — as well as all income from more than 36 individual departments and offices,

The Treasurer’s Office administers all procurement cards — credit cards issued to individual departments or staff members — as well as Automatic Clearing House (ACH) payments (direct pay) and Visa Accounts for all departments.
