ALBANY — In a brief session Tuesday morning, the Linn County Board of Commissioners approved intergovernmental agreements to provide emergency dispatching services by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office to area communities and districts.

The following were approved: Albany Fire Department, $274,912; Brownsville Rural Fire, $18,134; Halsey-Shedd Rural Fire, $18,220; Scio Rural Fire Protection District, $20,289; Harrisburg Fire & Rescue District, $21,885; Lebanon Fire District, $165,411; Sweet Home Fire & Ambulance District, $81,116; Tangent Rural Fire District, $19,197.

In other business, the commissioners:

— Approved an easement for $19,505 with Everett Wright and Shirley Ann Wright (deceased), for the Goldfish Farm Road improvement project.

— Approved appointments to the Noxious Weed Control Advisory Committee and discussed how to attract more people to serve on the 26 different committees the county oversees. The commissioners agreed the county needs to regularly publicize vacancies to fill open positions and to ensure a flow of new ideas and concepts among the committee members.

— Announced that the annual Budget Hearings are underway at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center through Thursday and possibly Friday morning if final deliberations necessitate extra time. The meetings are open to the public and also available by audio.
